Josie has stabismus Ocular Misalignment. We noticed it at about 1.5 years old. She is now four years old and this is her second surgery. Strabismus is a visual defect in which the eyes are misaligned, pointing in different directions. Her left eye would turn out to the side when she was looking far away and tired or upset. This surgery is successful in that her eye is not turning out as much, but it does turn out on occasion. She does not have to wear glasses at this point. It is always difficult to see your child in pain. And having this surgery is painful. It is like having a lot of sand in your eye, but you can't rub it or wipe it to remove the sand. She is doing great and she is a happy, bundle of energy.

I'm glad that her surgery went well. Ethan is recovering from his cleft palate repair. We were in the hospital for 5 days. What fun.
